Friday night on The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert interviewed Creative Commons founder Larry Lessig, about his new book, “Remix: Making Art and Commerce Thrive in the Hybrid Economy“. Lessig, a strong proponent of modifying copyright restrictions on art (including music), was there to talk about the value added to society when people are encouraged to share and remix creative material.
During the interview (which you can watch here), Colbert challenged someone to break the rules:
“Never… ever… ever… take anything of mine and remix it! For instance, I will be very angry if anyone takes this interview right here and remixes it with some great dance beat, and it starts showing up in clubs across America.”
